- 4th November 2011 - Vodafone launch new tariffs
With effect from 1st November 2011 Vodafone have launched new business mobile tariffs. One of the main attractions of the new tariffs is the option to include their One Net Express product with a standard tariff. This will make it more affordable for many small businesses.
- 12th October 2011 - BlackBerry users suffer major outage
A problem at RIM's data centre which first surfaced on Monday is continuing to cause misery for many BlackBerry users. It was apparently a switch which failed and the failover options did not function correctly, leading to problems connecting to BlackBerry servers for users throughout the UK and Europe.
There is now a major backlog of data to be processed meaning that these issues could continue for a little while yet. Most problems are being seen by BIS users whilst BES users seem less affected.
- 6th October 2011 - Apple iPhone 4S launched
Apple have finally announced details of its new iPhone which is set to go on sale in the UK from 14th October. The iPhone 4S will likely retail around £499 for the basic 16GB version.
Faster than previous versions with a dual-core chip it also boasts a better camera and full 1080p HD video.

- 27th July 2011 - Will 4G solve mobile not-spots?
It is estimated that 3 million people live in mobile not-spots. 4G promises faster speeds and better connectivity but will it be rolled out to rural areas?
There will shortly be an auction for spectrum in the low frequency 800MHz band made available by the switch to digital TV. This frequency is particularly good at penetrating buildings allowing better in-home/in-office coverage.
However it is more base stations that are needed to extend coverage to rural areas and now would be a good time to include this extension as part of the auction terms.
